As I lay here waiting in the open, lying in earth mothers arms

I see it, feel it, smell it coming to engulf me in its dark mystery

I spread my arms, my legs to feel it completely through out me

Darkness, electric with sparks upon the deep black
I am not afraid of the deep dark, not me, not here, or anywhere

I am at peace here, tranquil in the warm, whispering, teasing breeze

Alert to all that can be fully sensed, felt, heard fully
Comforted, safe, yet feeling fully alive right to my soul

As in the arms of a long time lover, gently, passionately loving

And like a great lover that fully satisfies, I try to hold darkness

Fully knowing it must leave for my lover, Light

Dark’s mystery will return to me always, to caress, to hold, always

Affirmations Of A Poet

 I will take my work as a poet seriously, though I
don't expect to make much money through this endeavor.

• I will seek inspiration through engagement in
moment-to-moment experiencing, and reality.

• I will strive for clarity, combined with depth of
expression.

• I will convey emotion in my work, understanding that
poetry is not merely an intellectual exercise.

· I will adhere to my personal poetic vision and form
of expression, not seeking to mimic anyone.

• I will study the work of poets from a variety of
cultures.

• I will read widely…including science in my reading
list.

• I will share my work with others, including family
and friends, as well as through both performance or
publication.

• I will remain in touch with nature.

• As a creative person, I will not refrain from
communicating a unique perspective to others, even in the
face of opposition. Creativity demands courage, at times.

• I will write every day. For me, dawn is the best
time.

• I will be open to revision and feedback from others.

• I will immerse my soul in music, and expose myself
to great cinema.

• I will invite mystery into my life and work.

• I will commit myself to the expression of poetic
truth.

• I will concern myself with issues related to freedom
and justice.

• I will be a friend to other poets, and support the
development of their art and craft.

My Sanctuary, My Promise

When I feel the need to replenish my soul,
I  go to my special place to renew
I go there to lay down upon the grass
I go there to admire the wondrous view

It is here I come to listen to the whispering pines,
to watch the flowing of the gentle brook,
a hawk swooping and circling in the sky,
the fish jumping, snakes playing tag while I look

It is here my friends the deer, bear, red fox, red squirrel come,
even the white coated skunk comes up to sniff at my shoe,
as I watch the chipmunks scavenge for food

It is here I come to get away from the chaos  
sorrows of my other world,
the one that  tries so hard with every breath
to box you in, confine you, own you,
bring you to your knees

It is here, in my retreat I can let my heart, my soul fly free
drowning in all the Creator has given, for you, and for me
It is here I renew my vows to all that surrounds me,
to fight, to protect, a Warrior I have become,
I work to make sure my vow is kept

For each day a little more forest is gone,
water tainted, one more animal becomes extinct,
the sky is full of noxious toxic stench,
haze to block out the stars, the moon, the sun,
houses encroaching on our animal families space,
makes me feel being human is a disgrace

Our Spirits Together Forever

Our spirits are forever blended
Together or apart
Feel me gently calling
Feel me within your heart

In the time we’ve been together
Our passions flame, has never dimmed
Has never been tamed
Still we fulfill our desires at times
Under a soft falling down rain

In loves passionate fulfillment
On eagles wings we soar high
Floating on passions currents
As eagles do, we release passions crys

Our spirits forever blended
Together or apart
Feel me gently calling
Feel me within your heart
