Blue Eyes

You mesmerize me, as we lay, you spooning me to you tight

Telling me memories of the life you’ve lived, times long ago

For hours, after we have made love, reminiscing into the night

 

It’s all there in your blue eyes, the longing; heart felt regrets, past of dark

Only when you talk of the singing group you and your friends formed

Do your blue eyes shine; smiles light them up, lifting your heavy heart

 

Your happiest time, to me it’s quite clear, this part of your life you miss most
The performances, the songs from those times, friends you still hold so dear

All the fan fare, the popularity and all that entails, your blue eyes filled with ghosts

 

Then your blue eyes fill with memories you wish deep in your heart to change,
Gambling, wrong women, ill-gotten gains, people you ran with of top criminal fame.
Speaking with trembling fear, of Penitentiary time spent, surviving hells gangs!   

Blue eyes so filled with love for your daughters, how proud you are of them
How you worked hard to turn your life around for them to be proud of you
The man you are now, sensitive, caring, remorseful, giving back to all you can

 

Blue Eyes, I want to ask, “Could all this you’re telling me be true of you?”

Your blue eyes hold it all; even all the fears being involved with me bring.
Let the past go Blue Eyes, or I won’t be able to stay with you, you know it’s true.

 

My Blue eyes, the past is gone, you can’t change it, you learned, it’s a new time.
Let’s sing together the great old songs, dance with me naked on the lawn,
Make passionate love all over the place, live the present and future with me

Blue Eyes, it’s your choice, make the choice to live like today is all you have…
